Volunteer FAQ

Q: What do volunteers do?

A: As we are a community-based organization, our volunteers can participate in a wide range of different things. We will do our heckin’ best to get you helping out with something that really peaks your interests and skills the most, and sometimes that means creating new programs and initiatives! But some common things that volunteers will do may include attending events, creating marketing material, hosting a consistent workshop, taking photos, sending out emails, and transporting food. We will also have specialized roles for folks interested in helping out at our physical location.

Q: How much time do I have to commit?

We don’t have any commitment requirements at this time. If you’re interested in helping out at a single event or just doing something small, that’s perfectly fine! If you want to get into the nitty gritty of things and help us really scope out the organization, we love that as well. Or maybe you just want to help out every once in awhile. All are welcome! Additionally, openings for more specialized commitment-based volunteer roles are available as well, with the potential to convert to full-time employment with benefits when revenue allows.

Q: Who is eligible to volunteer?

We mainly look for individuals who are 18 and older. Individuals who are under the age of 18 are also eligible, but will need their parent or guardian’s permission. Minors may not volunteer more than 10 hours per week, unless it is a requirement for a certification, course, or another extenuating circumstance. Other than that, anyone is eligible to volunteer with us!

Q: Are there benefits to volunteering?

The individuals who volunteer with us are awesome people who dedicate their time because they are super passionate about what we do. Volunteering allows you to gain many different kinds of skills, view new perspectives, and it may act as work experience on a resume or federal application. You also get to make a positive impact on the community and meet some pretty cool humans! Nevertheless, volunteers still get some cool perks. We have some pretty fun get togethers, you’ll always have some free food at arm’s reach (we love food so obviously every event needs to be catered), and you get cool free swag like t-shirts, mugs, and other promotional items. Specialized committed volunteers also always receive a complimentary rate on cafe items, regardless of food funds.
